Sculptures, installations, and prints were installed in King Michael’s Square in Bucharest within the exhibition “Stop the War (in Ukraine)”, to touch and motivate the public not to remain indifferent to the humanitarian disaster that is unfolding before our eyes.
Romanian and Ukrainian artists continue to take a stand against the war in Ukraine and advocate for peace, using their art to express the suffering, pain, terror, and disastrous consequences of the war.
“Innocent people suffer, are mistreated in all manners of ways, wounded, killed, banished by meaningless violence. To put your art at the disposal of the attitude of unequivocal condemnation of terrible and meaningless aggression is already a natural anthropological process in the context of contemporary society”, says the artist Mihai Rusen.
The exhibition also includes the work of the artist Krišs Salmanis (Latvia) which became famous after its publication on the cover of IR magazine. (https://ir.lv/zurnaals/617/)
The 8 Romanian artists who exhibit are: Ion Alexandru, Segiu Chihaia, Misha Diaconu, Daniel Loagăr, Alex Manea, Denis Nanciu, Mihai Rusen, Cristian Seușan.
Stop the War (in Ukraine), an exhibition curated by Raluca-Ilaria Demetrescu and Daniel Loagăr continues the curatorial approach launched in March by the two curators when 75 artists from the two countries protested against the war through the charity exhibition “Bombs and Humans. United Artists against War”
The outdoor exhibition can be visited until May 28.
