Starting on March 22 Art Machine, the vending machine located in the Cărturești Parklake bookstore in Bucharest, will generate a new collection of 100 original works of art made by the artist Marian Văsii.
Marian Văsii, by approaching the drawings made for Art Machine, speculates on several possibilities at the limit of the normal – from minimalism to surrealism, subject to doubt in search of other forms or subjects, thus ending up creating a world within another world. All this microscopic labyrinth materializes in a painting collection, Nairam, which will be exhibited starting in March in several spaces in Bucharest.
“Art? Because this is what I wanted from before, for ages, for writing, for education, for empathy, for being here and living or surviving (still), for catharsis, for pure love, madness, faith, and repentance! “, says the artist.
Nairam closes a cycle of thoughts and feelings caused by society, the pandemic and personal experiences. Are you sleeping or dreaming? it is the theme through which the artist seeks at the plastic level to convey ideas or even queries to the viewer. On the border between surrealism and expressionism he found this contemplative exercise with the related aesthetics.
Marian Văsii graduated from the Faculty of Decorative Arts and Design, Scenography section at the University of Art Bucharest – coordinating professor Scenographer Roxana Ionescu, Architecture – Design section of the Art High School “Hariclea Darclee” Brăila – coordinating professor Aurel Manole, Graphics and Painting course, mentor Hugo Maracineanu, within COLUMN H and the Art School “Vespasian Lungu” Brăila, graphics section, coordinating professor – Constantin Boer Dondoș.
The Art Machine Project creates a unique opportunity to acquire original artwork, in a format and at an affordable price, while providing exposure and financial support to the artists involved in the process. As of July 2020, it has made 42 series of original works available to the public.
“Art Machine is a vending machine that distributes original works of art in exchange for 10 lei. Each work was drawn by an artist and carries with it his personal stamp. It’s basically an artist business card created just for you. In this way we encourage you to start your own art collection and maybe even exchange works that you like. Art is also about pleasure, and over time, collections can become a mirror of personal taste,” say the initiators of the project, the artistic group Pastila Roz.
