Over 80 Romanian artists in one exhibition: “Flowers and people/ Homo homini flos est”

The exhibition “Flowers and people/ Homo homini flos est” curated by Raluca-Ilaria Demetrescu and Cristian Cojanu is open to the public until June 15. The exhibition takes place in two exhibition spaces in Bucharest: 1001 arte (Calea Victoriei, 91-93) and Contemporan Hair Space (Str. Biserica Amzei, Nr. 22).

The exhibition offers a real visual show, which brings together a large group of artists, with completely different visions of approaching a common theme proposed by the curators.

The exhibition concept starts from the relationship between the contemporary artist and flowers, from the importance that the admirer’s eye gives to them. ” You need consciousness to position yourself aesthetically, to notice the magic and beauty of the color, the perfume, the shadow lost in the darkness of the leaf, the field of of myosotis, the meadows with wildflowers. What is the value of a mine, greenhouse, carnivorous flower if there is no eye of the geologist, the botanist, the traveler, the lovers, the sloth, the lazy, the aesthete?!”, says Raluca -Ilaria Demetrescu.

Starting, above all, from the special visual attribute of flowers, works of an extensive number of emerging artists were selected, this variety reminiscent of complex forms and completely different from each other, which the petals of flowers can take. Within the two exhibition spaces are exhibited the works of over eighty artists, these being, as Raluca-Ilaria Demetrescu states, invited to: “relate effectively or symbolically to the Flower: healing, beautiful, subversive, poisonous”.

The selection includes works made in a great variety of artistic mediums: painting, sculpture, graphics, photographs, installations, textiles, and even tattooing. However, the Flower remains the common element within them, each artist coming up with his approach and perspective on its symbolism.

The participating artists are: Ada Muntean, Adrian Ghiman, Adrian Oncu, Adrian Sandu, Adriana Blendea, Alex Manea, Alexandru Claudiu Maxim, Alexandru Ranga, Alin Carpen, Alina Jianu, Allé Aliosha, Ana Bănică, Ana Toma, Ana Chiorean, Ana Tudor, Anca Boeriu, Andra Achim, Andrei Tudoran, Andreias Welther, Ndu Dumitrescu, Aris Tureac, Beaver, Carmen Nistorescu, Carmen Secăreanu, Ciprian Buzilă, Cornel Lazia, Cornelia Daneț, Cristina Iacob, Cuzina, Dana Catona, Daiana Savopol, Daniela Vîrlan, Denis Nanciu, Denisia Călin & Alex Munteanu, Dorin Creţu, Elena Andrei, Eugen Alupopanu, Florin Zhu, Ileana Dana Marinescu, Ioana Nicoară, Ioana Niculescu Aron, Ioana Stelea, Ionuț Marin, Irina Damaskin, Irina Tănase, Lilian Theil, Liliana Basarab, Livia Penda, Liviana Matac, Liviu Bulea, Lorena Garoiu, Lucian Țăran, Lumi Mihai, Magdalena Pelmuş, Maria Pillat Brateș, Maria Pop Timaru, Maria Livia Onete & Eduard Bălaş, Marian Codrea, Marian Petre, Marina Aristotel, Matei Emanuel, Medeea Nămoloșanu, Mihaela Vezentan, Mihai Mureșan, Mimi Pleşoianu, Mirela Ivanciu, Mirela Trăistaru, Nadine Kseibi, Nicola Darco, Norica Popescu, Olimpia Magheru, Olimpiu Bandalac, Otilia Boeru, Otilia Cadar, Otto Constantin, Roz Pill, Patricia Teodorescu, Paul Marat Baraka, Petru Lucaci, Radu Carp, Renata Mihaly, Raluca Ilaria Demetrescu, Roan Atelier, Robert Lörincz, Selma Dragoș, Sergiu Chihaia, Tara von Neudorf, Teodora Gavrilă, Theodor Grigoraş, Theodor Moise, Yan Su, Emilia Boșoi, Magdalena Stănică, Izabela-Gabriela Agapie, Delia Andra Bârborică, Maria Valentina Dincă, Alexandra Adela Dumitrana, Maria Theodora Grozavu, Elena Marin, Eduard Pleştiu, Diana Ana Maria Postolea, Gabriela Seidecăriu, Andrei Vlăsceanu and Lorena Șerban Constantin.
