Accelerator. Art in the public space ended with two works of art, designed by the artists Albert Kaan and Mihai Savin, presented in the public space in Otopeni and Iași.

The artist Albert Kaan presented his work, “The Vessel”, through a performance at Lidl Otopeni, Calea Bucurestilor 52. About the work “The Vessel”, the artist Albert Kaan stated: “The Vessel” is part of my ongoing series, “Liminal Spaces”, which explores the concept of existence between worlds. During my urban and natural explorations, I carry LED shapes and silhouettes, looking for places where I can create ephemeral narratives. This paper focuses on the idea that a machine is a bridge to new realities. The abandoned building becomes a temporary stage, a skeletal ship occupied by new characters and narratives. By briefly living in this space, I aim to transform the building into a platform for imaginative exploration, introducing new characters and stories.”

The artist Mihai Savin ended the series of artworks in the public space with a performance of his work entitled “The Obscenity of the Earth”. The performance took place in Iasi.
Mihai Savin describes his performance as “an ethical interrogation of social priorities, using a concrete reproduction of Earth’s Goodness as an allegorical engine of the question: is it moral to finance the higher needs when the fundamental ones remain unfulfilled? The installation of the spinning wheels serves both allegorical (performative production) and conceptual (regarding the object) purposes, considering the nomadic condition and commodity status of modern art (confirmed by the domain history of the reproduced work). Pushing it on the unpaved streets of Iași becomes a performative gesture that problematizes the allocation of public resources in a society with unsatisfied fundamental needs.”

The current edition of the Accelerator was dedicated exclusively to the field of art in public space. The stage of presenting the works, which marks the end of the project, was preceded by a complex mentoring session, the themes of which were personalized and adapted to this practice.
