Friday, February 10, 2023, from 6:30 p.m., Scemtovici & Benowitz Gallery invites the art-consuming public to the first InsideArt meeting, a program that debuts with the theme “Venice Art Biennale, 59th edition – Romanian artists in context international”, together with the visual artist Olimpiu Bandalac and Adela Mara, art historian and artistic director of the gallery.
The most recent edition of the Venice Biennale took place, in 2022, around the curatorial concept “The Milk of Dreams”, chosen by curator Cecilia Alemania. Seen through the eyes of the artist, this edition remains a reference point through the program and thematic, as well as through the selection of artists.
We point out notable Romanian presences at this Biennale and discuss how contemporary art from Romania is perceived internationally. We present pictures and short video sequences recorded during the event, comment on what is written and spoken about the topic, and welcome questions.” – Olimpiu Bandalac, visual artist.
Scemtovici & Benowitz Gallery offers you an engaging discussion with an artist with a lot of experience. Olimpiu Bandalac has participated in important international exhibitions and is a landmark in the world of Romanian animated films. He lived and created in political and economic contexts, which he copes with brilliantly from the beginning of the 80s until now.
InsideArt events connect the public and artists through creative meetings, dialogues and debates about events and trends in the global art market.
Address: Scemtovici & Benowitz Gallery, Jean-Louis Calderon no. 34, sector 2, Bucharest
About Scemtovici & Benowitz Gallery
Scemtovici & Benowitz Gallery entered cultural entrepreneurship in 2022, with the mission of supporting the artistic sector and increasing the value of Romanian artists on the local and international art market. The gallery aims to open new paths for those who deserve them, but so far have gone unnoticed, as well as for the established, through an exhibition program focused on contrasts, through a consistent dialogue between artists and art consumers, and through partnerships with actors from the art market, to increase the number of private and institutional collectors.
