“Oamenii din Deltă” | Photo Exhibition by Dragoș Lumpan | Școala de la Piscu

Piscu School Museum-Workshop hosts the photo exhibition”Oamenii din Deltă /People from the Delta”, a project by Dragoș Lumpan that brings to the fore the inhabitants of the Danube Delta, the environment in which they live and their ordinary lives.

“The Danube Delta is generally associated with flora and fauna. The fauna and flora of the Delta are truly spectacular. This is confirmed by a simple search for “Danube Delta” on Google Images, where very few images of the locals appear on the first page. Nor are the texts kinder to the people of the Delta. For example, Wikipedia uses over 1700 words to describe biodiversity and under 100 words for the population of the Delta. There can be many explanations, there are few people in the Delta, the population density is about 20 times lower than the rest of Romania, and the Delta is in the process of depopulation.

The general template is: the Delta man is the fisherman who fishes, drinks, sleeps and that’s about all he can do. In reality, Delta involves many more categories of people…” – this is a quote from one of the interviews you can see in this exhibition.” (excerpt taken from the presentation text of the exhibition)

The exhibition can be visited until December 31, 2022.
