Anniversary exhibition at MNAR dedicated to the painter Nicolae Grigorescu

On the occasion of the 185th anniversary of the birth of the painter Nicolae Grigorescu (1838-1907), the National Art Museum of Romania will open on May 15, 2023, a large exhibition bringing together important works from the museum’s heritage, which holds the most valuable collection in the country, featuring the most popular themes of his creation.

A selection from the museum collection, of large sizes, is presented in an exhibition medallion with a preview character in the Gallery of Romanian Modern Area open on Thursday, November 3, 2022. Included are the works made in the oil on canvas technique with the titles: „Întoarcerea de la câmp” (1901), „Întoarcerea de la târg” (1905-1907), „Fata cu doniță” (1888-1893), “Turma” (1883-1890), and “La izvor” (1886-1895).

Thus, we assume the first in the field of art heritage, paying homage to the one who is considered the founder of modern painting in Romania, in accordance with our mission of representing cultural values ​​at the national level” says Călin Stegerean, general director of MNAR.
