Walking through the UAP studios on Șelari 13

The female artists Anca Mureșan, Emilia Persu, Ileana Ştefănescu, and Beti Vervega open their studios on Saturday, October 22nd between 12 – 6 p.m. during the event “La pas prin atelierele UAP din Șelari 13/ Walking through the UAP studios on Șelari 13”, a cultural project initiated by the Nucleu 0000 Association, which aims to familiarize the general public with the creative spaces in the center of Bucharest.

At the same time, Atelier 35 Gallery, which is located on the ground floor of the workshop building on Șelari 13, will be opened for visits. Here the visitor can see the Nucleus 0010 Exhibition. Inopportune Meetings, a group exhibition that brings together works signed by artists: Roberta Curcă, Alexandra Ivanciu, Diana Miron, Marina Oprea, Nicolae Comănescu, Anca Mureșan, Beniamin Popescu, and Elena Scutaru.

Hidden in heritage buildings, most often in historical areas of the city, studios are rarely accessible to the general public and, most often, they remain closed even to specialists or the artistic community.

Spaces dedicated to contemporary abstract art animate the Old Center of Bucharest. Creative workshops in Șelari revolve around the legendary Atelier 35, a gallery of the Union of Fine Artists which puts to the maximum test the creativity and ingenuity of young artists and curators, up to the age of 35. Mysterious to those who intuit from the street their colors, hunted by creators and art lovers alike, the workshops are the place of refuge where an artist wants to experience, destroy, build, and throw, without a precise purpose sometimes, always without value judgments. Some workshops acquire such a clear identity that they become museums. Others host legendary encounters, and others are scoured, in search of those personal things, objects, sketches, or notes, that could bring new meanings to an artistic path.

INTER-EXTERIOR is a project organized by the Nucleu 0000 Association, in partnership with the Union of Fine Artists in Romania

Launched at the beginning of October, when the creative workshops in Amzei Square were opened, the Inter-Exterior project is a tool for familiarizing both the specialized and the general public with the UAPR buildings in the center of Bucharest. In addition to its educational function, the initiative tries to bring into public discussion, especially in the environments directly interested, the problem of the lack of creative workshops in Romania. The topic is discussed within the Inter-Exterior initiative, a project co-financed by AFCN and coordinated by artist Gabriela Mateescu. The approach has the mission to initiate a dialogue centered on the need for access to creative spaces, given that, in Romania, workshops at affordable costs and with long-term contracts are offered only by the Union of Fine Artists.
