SCÂNTEIA+, in collaboration with SwitchLab, the exhibition “The Picture” presents a project proposed by Dani Ghercă and Horațiu Lipot that explores, without aiming to provide an exhaustive perspective, the ways photography has been used within the Romanian art scene from the early 1990s to the present day.

The exhibition examines the evolution of photography as an artistic medium and the ways in which it has been integrated into various contemporary practices, reflecting the changes in language, context, and perspective that have shaped the past decades. The selection brings together works that highlight the multiple directions through which photography has moved beyond the role of simple visual representation, becoming a tool for research, documentation, conceptual construction, and reflection on reality.

“The Picture” offers a perspective on the relationship between photography and contemporary Romanian art, bringing together artists from different generations and contexts whose practices outline a complex image of the transformations of this medium.
