On Friday, July 24, forum lab. (Splaiul Peneș Curcanul no. 3–5, AZUR Building, ground floor, no. 3–4–5) hosts the performance “NOT ME. SINCERELY — MY Act About Things I Don’t Like”, by Ioana Bartha. The event opens to the public at 7:30 PM, and the performance will take place between 8:30 and 9:00 PM.

The project transforms personal aversions into an exercise of self-observation and reflection on identity, exploring how seemingly minor preferences and rejections contribute to shaping an intimate portrait of an individual.

Starting from the idea that tastes and aversions are deeply subjective and often difficult to explain, the artist proposes a performative gesture built around three things that have triggered aversion since childhood. Without seeking logical justifications or definitive explanations, the performance investigates how these personal reactions become part of individual experience and contribute to defining one’s relationship with oneself and with others.

As Ioana Bartha notes in the text accompanying the project, “preferences and aversions become a mirror of ourselves, both of our personal experiences (the interior) and of the contexts in which they are formed and transformed (the exterior).” In this sense, “NOT ME. SINCERELY” proposes a reflection on how everyday gestures, preferences, and rejections participate in the construction of identity.

The performance has a short duration and involves minimal audience participation. It will be filmed, and the recording will later be presented as part of other events dedicated to experimentation and performative practices.
