“Topographies of Dissolution” — An Invitation to Introspection in a World Marked by Accelerated Transformations

The solo exhibition Topographies of Dissolution by artist Daniel Brici, hosted by the National Museum of Art Timișoara in the Arcada Gallery, brings together works created between 2022 and the present. The exhibition features a limited selection of paintings and drawings that function as visual metaphors for transformation and decay, while also suggesting the possibility of regeneration.

“I live in a post-industrial city, where the echo of an era of hard labor can still be felt in the atmosphere, in the empty buildings, in people’s faces. The project I am developing begins from this reality — from this collective memory of effort, dust, and depth,” stated artist Daniel Brici.

“Conceived in dialogue with the exhibition Fragility of the Eternal. From Pompeii to the Grand Tour Until Today, presented simultaneously in the museum, Daniel Brici’s exhibition expands the reflection on ephemerality and permanence, exploring themes such as technological ethics, the social impact of industrialization, the biology of decay, and contemporary rituals of material transformation,” explains curator Andreea Foanene.

The works are executed using traditional techniques — charcoal on paper and oil on burnt wood — with a strong emphasis on contrast, light, and texture. Each artwork is structured as a “map” tracing the mediation between matter, memory, and identity.

Topographies of Dissolution, a tribute to human resilience and a meditation on silence, is an exhibition about degradation and rebirth, inviting viewers toward introspection in a world shaped by accelerated transformation.

Daniel Brici (b. March 31, 1987, Reșița) lives and works in Reșița. A graduate of the Faculty of Arts and Design in Timișoara (BA and MA in Painting), the artist’s practice focuses on hyperrealist drawing and painting, as well as the investigation of the human figure within social and symbolic contexts.

He has exhibited extensively in both solo and group exhibitions in Romania and abroad, and his works have been featured in specialist publications such as Hyperrealism Magazine and Imago Mundi – Luciano Benetton Collection.

The exhibition, presented by the National Museum of Art Timișoara in partnership with Consiliul Județean Timiș, can be visited until May 17, 2026, at the Arcada Gallery.
