RAD Art Fair 2026: Four Days in Which Art Activated the City

The fourth edition of RAD Art Fair concluded after four intense days (April 23–26), once again confirming its importance for Romania’s contemporary art scene. Hosted at CARO, the event brought together 31 local and international galleries, offering the public a broad and nuanced overview of current artistic practices.

More than just a fair, RAD functioned as a dynamic platform for dialogue and experimentation, where exhibitions were complemented by curatorial interventions, performances, and direct encounters with artists and art professionals. Visitors had the opportunity to discover both established names and emerging initiatives within an interdisciplinary framework that encouraged exchange and collaboration.

One of the highlights of this edition is RAD Sculpture Park (April 16 – May 15), set outdoors on the shores of Lake Tei. Under the theme CO_LAC, curated by Alex Radu and Anne Marie Lolea, the project brings together over 60 artists and more than 100 works, transforming the natural setting into an exhibition trail accessible to the wider public.

In parallel, RAD Design 2026 — Radical Domesticity, curated by Muromuro Studio (Ioana Chifu and Onar Stănescu), proposed a reflection on contemporary domestic space, bringing together 14 artists and designers in an exploration of how living becomes a conceptual and emotional territory.

The theoretical dimension was supported by the RAD Curatorial Summit, which brought international curators such as Paul O’Neill, Job Piston, and Simon Njami to Bucharest, facilitating relevant discussions on current directions in curatorial practice. At the same time, the RAD Pavilion, designed by AÉ02 Studio, became a focal point for performances and public programs, continuously energizing the atmosphere of the fair.

RAD extended beyond the limits of the exhibition space, activating the city through a series of satellite events—openings, gallery tours, and informal gatherings—that strengthened the connection between the artistic community and the public. Inside CARO, dedicated social areas contributed to a complete experience in which art and interaction naturally intertwined.
