Megan Dominescu’s solo exhibition, presented by Anca Poterasu Gallery, marks an expansion of her artistic practice into painting and installation, through which she constructs a dystopian universe that reflects the absurdity of everyday life.
“Scientists confirm: the rumours are true. The world is burning. If there’s no future, Megan Dominescu creates her own. She is tackling bad news with a disarming, humorous nonchalance. Hers is the visual language of a generation that inherited a collapsing economy, broadcasted in the chaotic rhythm of social media.
For this show, Megan blends textile works with paintings and installations that are both dreamlike and unsettling. Haunting and intellectually stimulating narratives that navigate between seriousness and the absurd. Alongside dark, subtle social commentary, she deliberately uses crazy colors and fun subjects that are “hard to be mad at”, ensuring the work disarms the viewer with a smile even as it provokes deeper thought.” (Excerpt from the curatorial text)
Curated by Sylvia Monasterios, the exhibition can be visited until December 19 at Anca Poterasu Gallery (26 Popa Soare Street, Bucharest).
