The exhibition New Tab, which brings together works by Floriama Cândea, Grupul de niciunde, 13m10j (Marius Jurca), kinema ikon, and Sabina Suru, opens on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at 7:00 PM, at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Politehnica University of Timișoara, 1 Mihai Viteazu Boulevard. The exhibition proposes an exploration of beginnings — those sudden, imaginative, and destabilizing moments in which a new possibility emerges and demands its own path of investigation. Within this framework, New Tab examines the ways in which art, technology, and speculative thinking can shape how we perceive the future.
Structured as a space of continuous reconfiguration, the exhibition traces how realities can be layered, disrupted, or rewritten through visual, digital, and sonic tools. The works of the five artists articulate a set of inquiries into transformation, technological memory, augmented corporeality, architectures of the collective imaginary, and the limits of perception.
At the center of the exhibition lies the idea of the future as an editable space, not as a horizon fixed by anxiety or inevitability. Each contribution activates a kind of “speculative toolkit”: from visual structures connecting the body with its technological extensions, to collectively constructed narrative scenarios, analyses of immersive media and cinematic apparatuses, and investigations of the visible and the invisible. The exhibition thus becomes a setting where creative, technical, and conceptual processes meet.
Curated in a manner that prioritizes dialogue between practices, New Tab stages a series of complementary positions: from sensitive materialities and technological intimacy to reinterpretations of moving images and speculations on data and emerging worlds. The exhibition invites the public to reflect on how narratives about the future are constructed and how they can be reimagined.
The exhibition includes a substantial component of artistic and technological research, aligned with the interdisciplinary direction of Politehnica University of Timișoara and the META Spațiu programs, where art is approached as a form of critical analysis, experimentation, and conceptual prototyping. New Tab functions as a framework in which visitors can observe processes, interactions, and encounter alternative forms of meaning-making in a world undergoing change.
The exhibition can be visited Monday to Friday, between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM, until January 19, 2026, at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Politehnica University of Timișoara.
