AIM PHOTO – DIORAMA: a new perspective on presence in photography

Mobius launched AIM PHOTO, a new annual capsule dedicated to exploring the breadth of contemporary photographic practices. Conceived as a long-term space for reflection, the program investigates the role of the photographic image within today’s artistic and cultural discourse. Its inaugural edition, organised in collaboration with The Institute and Creative Quarter, transforms Amzei Square into a dynamic photographic landscape spread across four key locations.

Curated by Michele Bressan, the exhibition DIORAMA brings together works by Dani Ghercă, Bogdan Gîrbovan, Nicu Ilfoveanu, and Iosif Kiraly. Focused on the delicate tension between presence and absence, the exhibition invites viewers to observe how the human figure appears not as the protagonist, but as a subtle trace within vast, layered environments — shaping both perspective and scale.

The exhibition questions how photography mediates perception and constructs meaning, prompting a reconsideration of the relationship between people, space, and imagery. From Hippolyte Bayard’s early self-portraits to contemporary works, the photographic medium has long dealt with human presence. DIORAMA offers a contemplative approach, where absence holds as much visual and conceptual weight as presence.

The exhibition is open to the public until October 17, 2025.
