OTHER PLACES. Group exhibition at Leilei Gallery

The exhibition OTHER PLACES is open at Leilei Gallery until October 3, 2025, bringing together the works of eleven artists: Sebastian Antal, Davida Constantinescu, Ana Maria Dranga, Maria Eross, Radu Gheorghe, Andra Georgescu, Elian Puican, Iulia Paraipan, Maria Răducanu, Ștefan Roban and Bianca Serenciuc.

“The concept explores how ritual gestures of the past—once imbued with spiritual, communal, or symbolic meaning—gradually transform into small, often mechanically repeated actions, stripped of their original significance. This shift reflects a new relationship with time, collective memory, and the sense of belonging. Some traditions disappear, while others survive in forms adapted to everyday life: sometimes unconsciously, sometimes in fragments, or preserved only for their aesthetic value.

The exhibition aims to highlight the subtle process through which sacred and social customs lose their initial purpose, surviving merely as fragments or decorative elements. In this way, the compositions create a space for reflection on this imagined heritage—one that continues to shape the small automatisms of daily life, giving visibility to the echoes of a lived, transmitted, or forgotten past.” (curatorial text)
