The Cosmic House announces the opening of the exhibition “Instances of Aloneness”, a group show that brings together the works of the artists Caterina Cherecheş, Maria Chiorean, Daria Ciocan, Marcus Ionescu, Alexandra Mîţă, Miruna Morţe, Cosmin Petrule and Constantin Vulturar. The opening will take place on Friday, August 8, at 6:00 PM.

Curated by Tudor Costin, the exhibition explores the circumstances of what we could call loneliness or solitude. The two terms must be read both separately and in relation to each other, the exhibition deliberately distancing itself from discourses dominated by terms such as connectivity, interconnection or networks.

“We can speculate, or loudly declare, that much of an artist’s work is done in solitude, in close connection with the individual’s relationship with himself. We can imagine the artist, alone, using solitude to observe the world. However, before analyzing the results of this time spent away from the outside world, we must also think about his needs, from bread, to sex, to the very act of looking. The works in “Instances of Aloneness” invite the viewer to contemplate what loneliness looks like: it can be the lost gaze through a window, the silence of a room after guests have left, the memory imprinted in a personal object, or the solitary thought of a child on a swing.

The exhibition will remain open until September 15, 2025. Admission is free.
