Art Safari launches #PhoneFreeWeek

Visitors hunting for the perfect photo with their phones at exhibitions are now a constant at museums and art galleries. Art Safari is launching an atypical invitation: a break from screens and a real experience with art.

During the visiting week of July 17–20 (Thursday-Sunday), Art Safari proposes to visitors a digital disconnection and a reconnection with art, suggesting that they enjoy works of art for real – without photos, without stories, without notifications. Art seen face to face, not through the phone camera.
We spend an average of 3 hours and 45 minutes on our phones, global studies show, and we only allow 20 minutes when visiting a museum. In most museums and art galleries, visitors spend only 15 seconds in front of a work of art.

“When was the last time you were 100% present in an art exhibition, without standing with your phone in your hand, without looking for the perfect angle for your story, without thinking about how many likes you will receive? I would like to challenge you to come to Art Safari without your phone, or at least keep it in your bag, in your pocket, during your visit. Do not take pictures of the works, do not post them, but just spend a few minutes without your phone in front of the works. What will they convey to you then? Let’s try to look at the works of art with our own eyes, not through the lens of the phone. Let’s try together to reduce this very close relationship we have with mobile phones”, declares Ioana Ciocan, Managing Partner of Art Safari.

This is not a ban, but a conscious choice proposed to the public by Art Safari.

Last days of visiting – this edition ends on July 27!

Art lovers can still visit the season’s most essential exhibitions until the end of July. The exhibition program includes the tribute to Ioan Andreescu and the retrospective dedicated to Ion Țuculescu, from the exhibition “Forgotten Romanian Painters” that brings dozens of valuable artists to the fore, to the exhibitions beloved by the public – Dogs vs. Cats, Once Upon a Time as in Fairy Tales, and the contemporary art of the new wave of artists Young Blood 4.0.

The program of the latest special events of the season is available here.

The Art Safari visiting program is Thursday-Sunday, 12:00-21:00, on Lipscani 18-20. Tickets are available here.
