“art/if/acts. Praxis and Liminal Territories”. Group exhibition at Meron Gallery

Meron Gallery hosts the exhibition “art/if/acts. Praxis and Liminal Territories” until August 6, 2025, curated by Andra Handaric. The exhibition is part of the first edition of the curatorial platform “Praxis! Emergent Curators’ Days” and explores the intersection between material culture and contemporary art, the title being a play on words that refers to art as an active factor in current social dynamics.

The exhibition aims to explore this intersection, bringing to the forefront the relationship between the functional artifact and the work of art, between utility and metaphor. Art thus becomes a significant factor, acting as a container, index and mirror of memory, highlighting the historical and cultural dimension of human experience.

We are living in an era where the boundaries between art and material culture are becoming increasingly fluid, a phenomenon that reflects the complexity and diversity of contemporary discourses. “art/if/acts. Liminal Territories” does not seek to establish definitive answers, but to open paths to new questions, exploring how we can coexist with the objects that surround us and how these relationships shape our perceptions of the world.

art/if/acts. Praxis and Liminal Territories is a visual dialogue between the works of eight artists, in which sculpture, drawing, installation, textile art, and bas-relief outline a space of ritual repetition, obsessive accumulation, and the tension between anguish and the sublime, constituting a metaphorical fabric that x-rays the present. The exhibited objects reverberate the gestures of those who created them, the systems that shaped them, the bodies with which they came into contact, preserving the imprint of the authors’ intentions, of their questions and their negotiations with the surrounding world.” – Andra Handaric, curator of the exhibition.

Participating artists: Gyárfás Oláh, Norbert Filep, Bandi Daniel David, Irina Marinescu, Maria Brîneț, Radu Abraham, Sorina Cotea, Taisia Corbuț.

The exhibition “art/if/acts. Praxis and Liminal Territories” is part of the first edition of “Praxis!
