From July 1 to August 24, 2025, the Cinemascop Garden in Eforie Sud will host the Eforie Colorat event, a contemporary art festival featuring over 200 events, including openings, book launches, film screenings, experimental music, live performance sessions, community meetings, and workshops for children. The center will also host a series of events in the off-season (until April 30, 2026) designed to inspire the local community and contribute to the broader effort of regional growth through culture.
The Cinemascop Garden in Eforie Sud opens its doors on Tuesday, July 1, at 6:00 PM, for four warm-up days, with meetings, music and film screenings, before the official launch, scheduled for July 5.
A plea for a city of arts opens this year, the artist-run space in Eforie Sud. Constrained for decades by its holiday identity, the city is now exploring its true nature and how its evolution through the ages has shaped the lives of its residents and the hopes of those who visit. At the opening of the 5th edition of the Eforie Colorat summer season, four representatives of the national contemporary scene—Alexa Lincu, Livia Fălcaru, Andrei Turenici, and Andrei Damian —were invited to discuss the identity of the Black Sea towns, starting from the garden resort located between Techirghiol and the sea. The four will redefine the identity of the city of Eforie Sud through art, inspired by the real specificity of the place and the mirage of this fairytale space, an ideal of freedom, summer and eternal vacation.
The exhibition “Eforie Unframed” reinterprets the city’s identity, starting from everyday life on the seaside, from a past full of stories, to a present of transformation and then, imagining a better and more sustainable future. We are talking about symbols of today and yesterday, recalling the beloved landmarks of a summer town, from the “therapeutic mud” evoked by Andrei Damian, to the nostalgia of moments of relaxation with waves, sun and sea views from summers when dreams traveled by mountain bike, and the adventure began with Radio Vacanța! We catch the sunset on the beaches of yesteryear: the wind throws sand on a white sheet, a bottle of mud, a sunbath and a whole day without worries, as in a work by Livia Fălcaru.
The shore of Eforie Sud remains a space where reality easily slips into an imaginary with magical touches: Alexa Lincu opens a portal, as in Alice’s adventure in Wonderland, to worlds where objects grow and shrink, with the enthusiasm of a child discovering the first waves. “Without ‘summer-ready’ bodies and without the pressure of the Instagrammable frame, tourists once combined the useful with the pleasant, letting themselves be carried away by the joy of encountering nature and themselves. We sincerely hope that there are still such nostalgics today”, says Ioana Marinescu, the curator of the exhibition. Andrei Turenici brings together all these symbols in a unique statement, imagining, abstractly, the garden between the gulch and the sea, the dream between eras, the path between cultures, between societies, between people.
Beyond its social and political significance, contemporary art descends onto the streets, alleys, and cliffs to add color to a summer town, offering passersby a dash of inspiration and a moment of joy. Works full of humor, color and warmth come to the cliff to meet cheerful people, open to the simple, warm and honest dialogue, occasioned by contemporary art. Each wall at the Cinemascop garden tells a story, and each alley evokes a history. Starting this year, Eforie Colorat organizes participatory guided tours, offering everyone an informal framework for dialogue. (press release)
