Romană Gallery presents the first solo exhibition of the artist Mircea Hristescu (b. 1995, Bucharest), entitled VARDAR. The opening will take place on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 7:00 PM.
The opening will be given by Fr. Bogdan Tătaru-Cazaban, from the Bucur Ciobanul Church, and Vladimir Bulat, historian and art critic.
In the VARDAR exhibition, his works reflect a personal introspection, an exploration of inner states and the continuous attempt to overcome temptations. The exhibition can also be a testimony of a personal journey, a dialogue between the inside and the outside, between experience and reflection.
“The title of the exhibition comes from one of the teachings of Saint Paisios the Athonite in which the VARDAR (a very cold, spring-like current, coming from northern Macedonia) represents the first temptations of the beginner eager for salvation: either despair that hardens or too much confidence in oneself and in one’s own forces that “freezes” the buds of spiritual fruition. As for me, not being a follower of the idea of a fixed theme or conceptual program, these works are actually a visual diary, a mirror of my more or less spiritual studio concerns.” (Mircea Hristescu, 2025)
The exhibition is open from July 2 to 22, 2025, Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:00, and Saturday from 10:00 to 15:00.
