The digital art marathon continues at Galateca, where on Saturday, June 21, at 5:00 PM, the exhibition ANIMATION AND INTERACTIVITY: NEO ART CONNECT 2025 opens, in partnership with UNATC.
The exhibited works are created by students of the Department of Animation and Interactivity, the newest department at UNATC, which combines bachelor’s and master’s programs in the fields of Animation, Game Design, Art, Interactive Technologies for Performing Arts, and New Media.
In focus: Tony Macpela / Anthony Deaibes, Mara Olaru, Lorena Cocora, Orsolya Rend, Gheorghe Andre, Andrada Baleanu, Maria Hodor, Ana-Maria Giosan, Nicu Daria-Andreea, Iulia Turicianu, Alina Gheorghe.
Anim-ITPMA 7 brings together works by master students from ITPMA and other programs of the department, presenting for the first time the broader context of the interdisciplinary development of the use of animation in various media and techniques, from animated film to video games and interactive installations. Animation extended through various techniques from 2D animation including techniques such as cut-out or stop motion but also the development of interactive generative systems including those based on training artificial neural networks are the basis of the projects developed by AI students during the programs.
Students and graduates of the department have participated in prestigious national festivals, such as Romanian Creative Week, RADAR, BINAR, Spotlight, and Animest, as well as international festivals in Annecy, Shanghai, Ars Electronica Linz, and the Lyon Festival of Lights.
UNATC is considered by The Hollywood Reporter among the top 10 universities in Europe for cinematographic and theatrical training.
Neo Art Connect is a project initiated and curated by Andreea Sandu and Anca Boeriu, organized by Galateca Gallery and Neo Art Romania Cultural Association. This year’s edition proposes a creative debate on sustainable education, interdisciplinary collaboration and the impact of new technologies on society, between May and October nationwide.
The exhibition remains open until July 15. Free admission.
