The third edition of the RAD Art Fair opens at CARO Bucharest

Today, May 23, the third edition of the RAD Art Fair opens at CARO Bucharest. The fair brings together 28 art galleries from Romania, Austria, Belgium, Germany and Poland, presenting over 120 Romanian and international artists. For four days, between May 22 and 25, between 12:00 and 20:00, the CARO space becomes a cultural space dedicated to contemporary art, offering the public an extensive, immersive and interdisciplinary program, which reflects the energy, ideas and context of the current.

RAD Art Fair 2025 is more than just an art fair, it is a complex cultural event that brings together the most important art galleries in Romania, alongside the most relevant professionals in the field. In addition to the fair, RAD proposes a program of collateral exhibitions, installations, debates and collaborations with cultural spaces in the city – all designed to offer visitors a deep, diverse and participatory experience. The full program is available here.
“The event is a convergence point for artists, curators, collectors, institutions, independent spaces and the general public. Born from the initiative of some of the most important galleries in the country, RAD offers a professional, transparent and open framework for the presentation of contemporary art, in all its diversity and complexity. More than an exhibition platform, RAD functions as a catalyst for collaborations, interdisciplinary dialogues and addresses a much wider audience – a regional and international one”, stated RAD co-directors, Catinca Tăbăcaru and Daniela Pălimariu.

RAD Art Fair is a catalyst for forming a new generation of collectors in Romania.
RAD ART FAIR offers a complete platform for art enthusiasts, collectors and the general public and creates a professional and accessible context for discovering and acquiring contemporary art. The quality of the selection, the diversity of forms of artistic expression and the curatorial rigor transform the fair into a relevant space for cultural exploration and investment.
RAD Art Fair aims to form a new audience for contemporary art, especially among young people. In this spirit, access will be free on Friday, May 23, for all pupils and students who present a certificate or a passbook for the current year. This initiative reflects RAD’s commitment to making contemporary art more accessible and stimulating the interest of younger generations in culture, creativity and critical thinking.

RAD ART FAIR 2025 Awards, with real impact in supporting contemporary art
Since its first edition, the RAD Art Fair has integrated an awards system aimed at directly supporting participating artists and galleries, extending the impact of the fair beyond the four days of its holding. In 2025, partners such as Banca Transilvania, Marval Collection, MNAC & Stephan Stoyanov, RUS Collection, MARe – Museum of Recent Art and the RAD Association offer acquisition awards, with works entering permanent collections, providing artists with visibility, professional validation and concrete support in their artistic journey.

“This year, Banca Transilvania is strengthening its involvement in the RAD ART FAIR 2025 edition by directly supporting the local community of participating artists, also offering a purchase prize for one of the works exhibited during the 4 days of the fair. Thus, Banca Transilvania continues its path of promoting contemporary art in Romania,” said Ömer Tetik, CEO of Banca Transilvania.

Curatorial Symposium with International Participation
Within the RAD Art Fair, Bucharest becomes the meeting point for 30 curators and contemporary art professionals from 18 countries. They will take part, between May 20 and 25, in an intensive five-day program, which includes in-depth discussions, guided visits to the main art collections, galleries, cultural institutions and artist studios in Bucharest, as well as dedicated activities within the RAD Art Fair program. Oriented around the metaphor of the node, as a point of meeting, tension and co-creation, this year’s edition of the RAD curatorial symposium proposes a reflection on the role of the curator in navigating current geopolitical, social and environmental challenges.

RAD Design – Dormant Dialogues: When design comes to life
RAD Design returns as an essential pillar of the RAD Art Fair, exploring the dynamic area between art and functionality. This year’s exhibition, Dormant Dialogues, curated by Anda Zota and Elena Viziteu (AÉ02 architects), presents ten contemporary design objects that come to life through use and engagement. Each piece contains latent potential – transforming through touch, revealing hidden elements and evolving through personal interaction. The exhibition invites the public to reflect on the silent relationships we have with the objects that surround us.

RAD Art Fair launches the first report on the contemporary art market in Romania
Also on its third edition, RAD Art Fair launches, in collaboration with Deloitte Romania, the first report dedicated to the contemporary art market in Romania – Romanian Art Market Report 2025. The publication marks an important milestone in developing the local artistic ecosystem, offering a clear analysis of the market evolution, collector involvement and current dynamics. The report responds to a real need for transparency and structure and reinforces RAD’s mission to act not only as an art fair but as a strategic platform for the future of the Romanian cultural scene.

The 2025 edition of RAD Art Fair introduces the PLATFORM section, a special program dedicated to emerging galleries and young curatorial initiatives, supported through professional mentoring.
