Between September 27 and October 19, the Bucharest National Dance Center and Rezidența9 are organizing a large exhibition dedicated to the choreographer and dancer Miriam Răducanu and her impact on several generations of artists.
The exhibition presents the choreographer’s artistic journey over a period of half a century and brings together for the first time photographic and videographic documents, which were recovered both from public archives in Romania (TVR Archives, ANF and the archives of the Țăndărică Theatre, the Bulandra Theatre, the Jewish Theater of State, Teatruli Mic), as well as from private archives of those who collaborated with Miriam Răducanu from the 60s until today, such as Gigi Căciuleanu, Raluca Ianegic, Liana Tugearu or Ioan Tugearu, as well as from the personal archive of the choreographer.
The Bucharest National Dance Center (CNDB) and Rezidența9, in partnership with UNITER /UNITER, bring together in the generous space in I. L. Caragiale street no. 32, the voices of more than 10 artists from various cultural fields who collaborated with Mrs. Miriam Răducanu.
The exhibition will open at Rezidența9 on September 27, at 7 PM, and during the exhibition period, a series of events will take place: guided tours, film screenings, performances, and presentations.
The video montage “Miriam’s Sense”, based on the concept of the director Alexandra Gulea, is among the exhibition’s works and is presented for the first time. On September 28, from 7 PM, there will be a discussion with the director and Vlaicu Golcea, who restored the sound of the videos from the archive and composed the music. The film is the sum of the meetings between the dancer and choreographer Miriam Răducanu and the photographer Mircea Sorin Albuțiu, who for eight months worked together, in 2017 on a jazz theme inspired by a video recording with Miles Davis from 1959 from Robert Herridge’s studio in New York.
