GLORIÆ Art Gallery, the first private art gallery in Craiova, will host at the end of September the finissage of the exhibition Il segno nello spazio… il volto del colore… l’ombra della forma / The sign in space… the face of the color… the shadow of the form, dedicated to the Italian artist Vincenzo Bianchi.
The event will take place on Thursday, September 26 from 6 PM at the gallery. On this occasion, the exhibition catalog will be launched in the presence of the curator, university professor Ruxandra Demetrescu. It is an opportunity to see the works of painting, graphics, sculpture and objects created by Bianchi, before the new exhibition season that GLORIÆ is preparing for this autumn.
The current exhibition was opened at the end of May and was visited by personalities from all over the world who passed through Craiova in recent months.
About the artist’s career, Mrs. Ruxandra Demetrescua stated: “Vincenzo Bianchi, internationally recognized for his prodigious creativity, manifested in all genres and mediums of visual arts, as well as for the deeply innovative nature of his technical experiments. Read from the perspective of the artist’s legend, his biography is marked by emblematic and surprising moments. Born in 1939 in Fontana Liri, he remained connected to Ciociaria, his native region, choosing to live and work in Isola del Liri, after an impressive academic career that took him from Urbino to Catanzaro, from Frosinone to Florence and Macerata.
He discovered his artistic vocation after benefiting from serious technical training, which would awaken and then confirm, as he confesses, his interest in technical experimentation, including the use of lasers in his projects. Formed in the privileged cultural space of Italy, which (re)invented the status of the artist in early Renaissance modernity, Bianchi approached with equal “competence” the great genres of plastic arts – sculpture, painting, graphics -, being naturally also attracted to the new environments, generators of unexpected combinations and compulsions.”
GLORIÆ Art Gallery is located in Craiova’s historic center, on Alexandru Macedonski Street 49. It can be visited from Tuesday to Friday between 12:00 and 18:00 and Saturday between 12:00 and 16:00.
