Oana Năstăsache: Between Acts. The first exhibition of abstract art hosted by Meron Gallery

The exhibition “Between Acts”, signed by the visual artist Oana Nastăsăche, offers only the essential elements — precise geometries strong contrasts — leaving room for each visitor to build their own understanding. This process of “summarizing” complex ideas through simplicity creates a powerful dynamic, inviting viewers to become part of the work’s story, reflect on the traces left by man in the world, and discover multiple layers of meaning in each creative act.

The exhibition “Between Acts”, curated by Crina Ciocian, goes beyond the mere exhibition of artworks, becoming a metaphor for the transitions and interactions between seemingly opposite visual forces. Each work of Oana Năstăsache represents an ephemeral moment of expression in which the geometric structure and gestural spontaneity create a perpetual dialogue between order and chaos, control and freedom. This process of “summarizing” complex ideas through simple visual elements invites viewers to reflect on the traces left by man in the world and on the multiple layers of meaning that can be discovered in each creative “act”.

Oana Năstăsache is recognized for combining rigorous geometry with free gestures, exploring the delicate balance between reason and instinct, stability and movement. Each composition turns into an independent act of creation, an intermediate stage in continuous evolution and reinterpretation. These moments of transition reflect the dynamism of the artist’s creative process, where rigid forms merge with energetic gestures, generating an atmosphere of tension and dialogue.

“For me, expressing complex ideas through simple visuals is like summarizing a book in a condensed form. My painting becomes that visual space open to interpretation, where simple shapes and colors explore complex subjects, such as the traces left by man in the world – discoveries, theories and history. Simplicity is not about saying less, but about making room for others to complete the story.” – Oana Năstăsache, artist.

Oana Năstăsache (b. 1991, Galați) lives and works in Cluj-Napoca, where she completed her entire academic career at the University of Art and Design. She graduated from the Department of Painting in 2013 and continued with her master’s studies until 2015. In 2022, she obtained the title of Doctor in Visual Arts.

Admission to the Meron Gallery is free and the exhibition will be open to the public until October 9, 2024.
