Romanian Design Week, the multidisciplinary festival dedicated to creative industries takes place in Bucharest, between May 24 and June 2, in the historical monument building in George Enescu Square, which in the past housed the famous CINA restaurant (Benjamin Franklin Street 10).
Under the theme of Unlock the City, the 12th edition aims to investigate the ways in which creativity and innovation can shape the cities of tomorrow and, at the same time, contribute to the exploration of Bucharest and the discovery of its potential and layers, the city’s creative spaces and organizations, or the cultural projects that animate and define them.
This year, the complete agenda of the festival consists of 8 formats:
RDW Design GO! redraw the city map alongside dozens of businesses and independent creatives, creating new routes and objectives in the city. With a diverse program, this format becomes a platform for dialogue and multidisciplinary exchange, addressing both the general public, consumers of design, and professionals.
RDW Exhibition promotes local creative industry professionals by showcasing the best architecture and design projects completed over the past year. Under the umbrella of the RDW Exhibition, the public has the opportunity to admire over 200 projects from 6 distinct categories: Architecture, Interior Design, Graphic Design, Product Design, Clothing Design, and Illustration.
RDW Design Flags. Developed with cultural institutes, embassies and local cultural-creative organizations, RDW Design Flags brings to the fore a series of exhibitions and projects by designers and architects worldwide.
RDW Young Design presents to the public this year a series of young designers and architects who stood out at the DIPLOMA Show festival. The format celebrates graduates’ early careers and highlights their innovative projects.
RDW Concept Store is a space dedicated to the consumption of Romanian design. It presents a selection of local designers and brands. In addition to showcasing products, the RDW Concept Store also hosts a series of curated events featuring designer meetings, tastings, product launches, and informal brand-to-consumer meetings.
RDW Social celebrates local design and grows a well-defined creative community by organizing events and contexts for meetings, dialogue, and collaboration.
RDW Talks promotes the most creative minds in Romania in dialogue with international professionals, addressing current themes of the global architecture and design scene.
Night of Architecture Studios. The format offers the public a special evening where architects open their offices and workspaces to present their latest projects to the general public and organize social events.
Tickets are required for entry to the event, with the exception of pupils, students, and pensioners, who have free access.
