RAD TALKS HIGHLIGHTS
With key personalities from Romania and abroad, this tightly curated discussion platform promises not only to offer insights into today’s pressing art world issues, but to also engage its audiences in provocative Q & A sessions.
Friday, May 17, 18:00: ART PATRONAGE – Catinca Tabacaru in conversation with seasoned collector Tudor Grecu

The Art Patronage series aims to impart an insider’s view on art collecting in one of its rarest form: patronage. This year, the series returns with another key figure of the art world, Tudor Grecu, who has infamously claimed that he and his wife, Geanina Grecu, “collect galleries, not artists.”
Saturday, May 18, 17:00: THE ROMANIAN PAVILION AT THE VENICE BIENNALE – Mihnea Mircan, Ciprian Muresan, Mihai Pop, Magda Radu

The Venice Biennale is said to be the Olympics of the art world. Romania, whose national pavilion stands proudly within the grounds of the Giardini, is often revered among the event’s star shows. Naturally, a project of such magnitude requires staggering amounts of talent, resources, and politics to come to fruition. This discussion brings together key players from the recent history of Romania’s Venice Pavilion: Mihai Pop (commissioner in 2007, curator in 2015, production director in 2019), Mihnea Mircan (curator in 2007), Ciprian Mureșan (artist in 2009, curator in 2024) and Magda Radu (curator in 2017).

RAD Talks returns to the RAD BMW Lounge, a sun-drenched green space built specifically this year to host a spirit of inquiry and wonder. During the fair, you can visit the RAD website for a detailed daily program of talks, meetings, and art circuits.

RAD CURATORIAL HIGHLIGHTS

With a strong focus on international curatorial practices, RAD 2024 brings together over 30 curators from 10 countries in a summit format, offering both public and industry-focused events.
RAD Curatorial will culminate for the public on Saturday, May 18 at 15:00 with a TED Talk-style format bringing to the stage seven curators who impart their ideas under two thematic headings: Memory and Otherness.
