At the ETAJ artist-run space, the artist George Serafim’s exhibition recently opened, entitled Path to Heaven, a concept that the artist has explored in recent years using various techniques.
“The idea incorporates a series of meditations of the artist on the current society and the idea of suffering. The artist also includes in this concept the attempt to discover and develop himself as a queer identity in a society dominated by hetero rules. At the same time, the release of the trauma of the impossibility to express oneself freely and to accept oneself, but also thoughts of suicide. The aggressions and frustrations generated by capitalism to people in general are also discussed.
Through the experience of these works, animal behavior is shown, but also the weakness of human nature in the face of mostly sexual pleasures and its queer experiences.
The decomposition or unification of all forms and beings into one common matter is another image contemplated by this series of works.” (excerpt from the exhibition text)
“For me, suffering is what makes us discover and accept our originality, nature is a force that constantly dominates and changes us”, said George Serafim.
