The creative centers of Timisoara have countless stories to tell since the capital of Banat has a long tradition in attempts to organize the local artistic life. Their visions had crystallized since 1903 when the first serious steps were taken to find the Guild of Painters, sculptors, graphic designers, and decorative artists. Various societies and associations would appear, starting from the 1920s – 1930s, when Salonul Artelor Bănățene was established – an event with immense prestige, which has continued its tradition uninterrupted until today. The Timișoara branch of UAPR has, in turn, collected memories from over 70 years of history. It was founded in 1951, immediately after the formation of the UAP in Romania, in 1950. Since 1956, it has been headquartered in George Enescu Street no. 1 (formerly Dobrogeanu Gherea). Here, the first creative workshops were assigned to the artists, bringing, one by one, into an exceptional community of artists such as Romul Nutiu, Xenia, Leon Vreme, Petre Jecza, and Bela Szakats, among many others.
Time has enriched reality with new stories, and now, a new generation of creators takes on the mission of taking all these ideas forward.
