The exhibition Soft Geographies, part of the CONNECT 2026 Contemporary Dance Festival, was presented at Gloriae Art Gallery in Craiova from September 10 to 27, 2026. Conceived by artists Nadina Stoica and Lena Ciobanu, the exhibition explores the subtle and unstable territories through which bodies move and transform — spaces that are constructed beneath the skin, in the distance between bodies, and in the relationship between ourselves and the world we inhabit.
In Craiova, the selection brings together works by Alexandra Boaru, Ioana Dumitrescu, Stol Collective (Mara Verhoogt, Marco Verhoogt, Ioana Mincu), Lena Ciobanu, Miruna Radovici, Lorena Cocioni, Nadina Stoica, and Sasha Amaya, artists who, through different practices, explore the relationship between body, space, memory, and identity.
The exhibition traces a narrative journey from the inner space of the self towards the body’s metamorphosis in the world. The project foregrounds the subtle territories through which the body moves and transforms, proposing an internal geography measured through sensations and silent negotiations with the surrounding environment.
Soft Geographies is part of an exhibition route presented across three cities — Constanța, Bucharest, and Craiova — with each space offering its own perspective on the ways in which bodies relate to the world and to one another.
