NAG #20: 237 Exhibitions, Projects, and Events Across 19 Cities in Romania

This weekend (October 2–3–4), White Night of the Galleries – NAG returns for its 20th edition. The event brings together audiences, artists, art spaces, and communities that contribute every day to Romania’s contemporary cultural scene. The anniversary edition unfolds across 19 cities and 210 participating spaces, creating an extensive map of contemporary art production and presentation.

This year, the NAG route includes Bucharest, Alba Iulia, Arad, Botoșani — including the towns of Ipotești and Vorona —, Brașov — including Codlea —, Chișinău, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova — including Dâlga —, Deva, Galați, Iași, Mediaș, Reșița, Sfântu Gheorghe, Sibiu, Suceava, Târgu Mureș, Timișoara, and the Jiu Valley.

Over the course of one weekend, the public is invited to discover 237 exhibitions, projects, and events hosted by art galleries, independent spaces, contemporary art centers, cultural institutions, and other venues opening their doors for the occasion.

The complete program is available on noapteagaleriilor.ro, bringing together all participating spaces and projects included in this edition. The map allows visitors to explore each city’s cultural offering and create their own route.

The anniversary edition takes place during a difficult year for the cultural sector. In this context, NAG’s continuity and its ability to bring together such a large number of spaces, artists, organizers, and audiences speak to a community that continues to exist, create, and support contemporary culture.

This year, the noapteagaleriilor.ro platform symbolically adopts a minimalist structure that places the map and the people at its center. It is also an invitation to set out, discover what is happening in each city, and look beyond exhibitions and events toward the community that makes the contemporary cultural scene possible.

Now reaching its 20th edition, White Night of the Galleries represents two decades of open spaces, encounters, projects, and people brought together in a living map of contemporary culture in Romania. This year’s edition also marks the first participation of Chișinău, extending the map beyond Romania’s borders into the Republic of Moldova.
